SHAH ALAM, September 17, 2026 – An old photograph is more than just a memory. Behind it lies stories, notable figures, and historical milestones that form an integral part of a generation's heritage.
- PTAR UiTM received the historical heritage book Potret Kenangan authored by UiTM alumnus Ahmad Fadhli Syed Hassan.
- The book, documenting Johor's history through old photographs, was presented by Prof Emeritus Dr. Awang Sariyan.
- UiTM's Vice-Chancellor emphasized the crucial need to preserve historical photos and documents for future generations.
Recognizing this immense value, the Tun Abdul Razak Library (PTAR) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) officially received a copy of the book Potret Kenangan (Portraits of Memories), authored by UiTM alumnus Ahmad Fadhli Syed Hassan. The book intricately documents the history and heritage of Johor through a rich collection of historical photographs and valuable documentary materials.
The handover ceremony, held on September 17, 2026, was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, YBhg. Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Shahrin bin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, FASc. The official presentation was completed by YB Senator Datuk Seri Professor Emeritus Dr. Awang Sariyan, the Incumbent of the Malay Rulers Institution Chair at UiTM, who presented the book on behalf of the author to the UiTM Chief Librarian, Ts. Haji Azizi bin Haji Jantan.
In his address, the UiTM Vice-Chancellor emphasized the critical importance of historical preservation. He reminded the audience that historical materials—such as old photographs, documents, and personal records—must be meticulously collected, documented, and preserved to ensure they are not lost to time.
"From the university, we acquire knowledge, and to the community, we return its benefits," he remarked.
It is highly hoped that Potret Kenangan will serve as an enduring intellectual treasure, continuously referenced, studied, and utilized by students, researchers, and future generations.
From an album, a masterpiece is born. From a masterpiece, history is preserved.
