SHAH ALAM, September 21, 2026 – The Library Department of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) successfully organized the 10th series of the Library Leadership Program at the Seminar Room, UiTM Shah Alam.
The event served as a vital platform for sharing knowledge and experiences with two distinguished figures, bringing critical perspectives on open knowledge and librarian readiness in navigating the evolving landscape of Malaysian higher education.

The first session featured YBrs. Madam Hazami Habib, a Fellow at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, who presented on "Awareness Toward UiTM Library Open Science with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia." Her comprehensive sharing highlighted the crucial importance of Open Science in broadening access to knowledge, strengthening the research ecosystem, and raising awareness of the library's role in supporting open knowledge dissemination.
The program also featured YBhg. Datuk Professor Emerita Dr. Asma Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of IMU University and a member of the Expert Group for the Malaysia Higher Education Plan 2025–2035. She delivered an insightful session titled "The Readiness of Librarians in Implementing the Malaysia Higher Education Plan 2025–2035: Evaluation, Strategy, and Accountability." This session provided librarians with a broader strategic view of professional readiness, emphasizing the need for responsive strategies and strict accountability in supporting the nation's higher education direction for the coming decade.
The 10th Library Leadership Program goes beyond a standard knowledge-sharing arena; it is a strategic platform to strengthen critical thinking and cultivate a culture of continuous learning among UiTM Library staff. It is highly anticipated that the insights gained will be translated into impactful actions and innovations, further cementing the library's vital role as a strategic partner in the university's teaching, learning, and research ecosystem.
