Pahang Biodiversity Adventure 2026 Brings Nature Closer in Kuantan

Pahang Biodiversity Adventure 2026 Brings Nature Closer in Kuantan

Kuantan, 25 April 2026 – The urban landscape of Kuantan became a living classroom for 37 participants of the Pahang Biodiversity Adventure 2026, offering a closer look at the variety of species that coexist within the city's everyday environment.

Students from Kolej Tingkatan 6 (Prauniversiti) Astana, SMK Sultan Abu Bakar, and SMK Abdul Rahman Talib joined teachers and library staff for the programme, which began at Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Pahang before moving outdoors for field observation activities.

At Taman Kenmunting and Padang MBK, participants explored the surrounding areas to identify and document various species found within the urban environment. The activity highlighted how biodiversity exists not only in forests and protected areas but also within public spaces that form part of everyday city life.

Participants were also guided through the process of systematically recording and uploading their observations using the iNaturalist platform. The practical experience allowed them to contribute biodiversity data while developing a greater understanding of citizen science and the importance of documenting local species.

The enthusiastic participation throughout the programme reflected a growing interest in biodiversity conservation and demonstrated how urban spaces can offer meaningful opportunities for environmental learning and exploration.
