SHAH ALAM, 22 May 2026 — The Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR) organised a Collaborative Teaching session titled “Enhancing Research Skills Through Effective Database Searching” at Lecture Hall 1, FSR, aimed at strengthening students’ research and information literacy skills.
The strategic session was specially designed for final semester (Semester 6) students of the Bachelor of Sports Management (Hons) programme enrolled in the SRT606: Research Methodology in Sport and Behavioural Science course conducted by lecturer Mr. Muhammad Faizal Kutip.
The programme was further enhanced by the presence of Mr. Mohd Hazrul Mohd Hussin, Deputy Chief Librarian (M)(KUP) from Tun Abdul Razak Library of Science & Technology (PST), who served as the guest speaker. His expertise in guiding students on effective academic database navigation and information searching techniques provided valuable exposure to participants.
During the session, students were introduced to practical methods of conducting systematic database searches to support quality academic research and evidence-based decision-making.
The initiative also highlighted the growing importance of critical thinking and information filtering skills, particularly in handling Big Data within the sports industry and management sector.
The collaboration between FSR and the library reflects UiTM’s continuous commitment to producing information-literate, research-oriented, and highly competitive graduates for the future workforce.
