The School of Information Science, College of Computing, Informatics & Media UiTM Cawangan Kelantan in collaboration with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Policy Studies, Faculty of Law and Perpustakaan Tengku Anis (PTA) have successfully organized Glocal Symposium on Information and Social Sciences (GSISS) 2023.
This symposium was held on 20th and 21st June 2023 at HRDA, UiTM Cawangan Kelantan starting at 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. With the theme “Information and Social Sciences: Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Era”, this symposium was organised in hybrid mode to give participants options and increase event flexibility.
The presenters consist of academics and students from national and also international. For the first day, the symposium began with keynote speech from:
- Associate Professor Dr Mohd Nasir Ismail (Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs, UiTM Cawangan Kelantan, Malaysia)
- Dr Imam Yuadi, S.Sos., M.MT., Ph.D (Supervisor of International Internship Program/Senior Lecturer of Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia)
- Associate Professor Filmor J. Murillo, MDC (International Relations Officer/Lecturer of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Philippines)
- Dr. Meida Rachmawati (Practitioner/Lecturer of Universitas Ngudi Waluyo, Indonesia)
The symposium continued with presentations from the presenters which were divided into two sessions and each presenter in this session will have a total of 15 minutes. The first 10-minute is for the presentation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A slot.

The second day of the symposium started with the presentations from presenters for the last session and continued with closing ceremony that was held at the HRDA and live streaming on UiTM Cawangan Kelantan’s YouTube channel.

The closing ceremony started with welcoming speech from Dr Nor Erlissa Abdul Aziz, Head of Academic Centre of Information Science Studies, College of Computing, Informatics and Media and followed by presentations summary from Associate Professor Technologist. Dr Haji Ghazali Osman as a Chief Moderator of GSISS 2023, to summarize the key points covered by the participants.
The ceremony continued with the closing speech from Professor Dr Haji Abdol Samad Nawi, Rector of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Kelantan, Malaysia and presented the best paper award and best presenter award after that. The event ended with presentation of token of appreciation to the speakers, moderators and also for all the International students of Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia.

This meaningful conference provides meaningful knowledge and experience to all involved, whether on behalf of the organizers themselves or the participants. We also would like to thank everyone who are involved in this GSISS 2023.
