Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and greetings,
Alhamdulillah, all praise to Allah SWT because with His grace and permission, we are given the opportunity to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the Tun Abdul Razak Library Knowledge House (PTAR) that we love. This anniversary is not just commemorating its founding date, but expressing appreciation for the long journey, collective struggles, and outstanding achievements of all librarians over five decades.
Since being inaugurated by the Second Prime Minister, Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak on 29 July 1972, PTAR has gone through significant phases of transformation from conventional libraries to digital entities, and is now actively moving towards a future seeing artificial intelligence, openness to knowledge, and holistic support for learning and research.
In the face of the challenges of the times, PTAR as a science house remains committed to remain relevant and progressive, along with the goal of becoming a “Dynamic Learning Centre” (Vibrant Centre of Learning) that unites technology, humanities, and science culture in one inclusive and high-impact space.
I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all the librarians and PTAR employees, for their never-ending dedication. From information management to digital innovation, from physical services to smart reach, you are all change makers. Without you, there would not be a pulse that makes PTAR alive as a building of science with a soul.
Over these 53 years too, PTAR has been led by eight visionary Chief Librarians, and I feel very honored to continue this legacy of leadership. God willing, with the solid support of all parties, we will move forward not only as information providers, but as pioneers of academic excellence and global knowledge culture.
Last word, Let us celebrate this birthday with gratitude and pride. May PTAR continue to excel and become a symbol of excellence of the university and the country.
