Leadership mentoring is compulsory to be implemented in all places particularly in any organisation or association. Leadership is the skill of inspiring a group of individuals to work together to achieve a common goal and it can result in self-discovery among the leader itself. There are various types of leadership skills that can be used by leaders in order to, manage their way in achieving the target made by themselves. Commonly, we often hear about four types of leadership styles which are autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, and transformational. These types have their benefits and undesirable effects that can be seen. However, due to lack of knowledge and mentoring leadership programs, most leaders in the whole country including Malaysia itself have the difficulties to find out which types of leadership are suitable to be implemented by them. Therefore, this writing aims to educate the readers about the importance of leadership mentoring that can be proven through the successfulness of the leadership that had been shown by one of the student’s associations known as PTAR Buddies.

Academic library professionals have played a very significant role in supporting university academics and students in their research work, as well as in teaching and learning. The purpose of this paper is to explore the professional opinion and current knowledge possessed by librarians with reference to digital research tools in supporting the research process in academic libraries in Malaysia. A quantitative research methodology was adopted in the form of a survey and included two open-ended questions, developed using JotForm to collect data from academic librarians working in public universities in Malaysia. The findings of the study indicate that there is a need for librarians to become more involved in the process of acquiring new skills, such as learning how to use research tools, so that they can play a more active role in the most advanced levels of academic research in the future. The research is limited to the academic librarian of public university libraries in Malaysia and focuses on the current knowledge they have on digital research tools and determining librarians’ opinions. The findings will inform librarians on the research skills and digital competencies that are essential for continuing professional development, possible reorganisation of the functional units of the research department and the relationship between the librarian and the researcher in a changing environment. This study would be a worthwhile contribution to the literature on competencies of information professionals especially academic librarian as such no study appeared providing evidenced and field-based insights to the proposed research area.

University libraries opt for social media as their primary channel for connecting with their users due to its convenience and potential for high visibility. The previous study demonstrated that users' interactions with library social media platforms still need improvement. This raises the issue of how well-informed libraries are regarding what kind of social media content and strategies users prefer, as well as whether or not they want to engage with libraries on social media platforms. This study aims to examine if, how and why students in UiTM Cawangan Perlis engage with Perpustakaan Dato’ Jaafar Hassan social media through a questionnaire survey drawing on the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) of persuasive communication.

Institutional repositories represent a historical and tangible embodiment of the intellectual life and output of an institution. These are now clearly and broadly being recognized as essential infrastructure for scholarship in the digital world. The paper seeks to provide an overview of institutional repositories and their benefits to the UiTM digital scholar community, describes the role of librarians in institutional repository development in the digital age, and its usage beyond country boundaries. UiTM has recognized that an institutional repository (IR) is an essential infrastructure of scholarly dissemination that promote research and non-research output of the academic community. An IR is a digital research archive consisting of accessible collections of scholarly work that represent the intellectual capital of an institution. It is a means for institutions to manage digital scholarship in their communities, maximize access to research outputs both before and after publication, and also to increase the visibility and academic prestige of both the institution and authors. This paper discusses the usage of UiTM IR from various perspectives including usage, coverage, and Item visibility with special emphasis on foreign researchers. As the strength and advantages of DS can only be maximized through effective IRs, the paper recommends that an IR be considered the principal benchmark of digital scholarship.

Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak (PTAR) UiTM Cawangan Sarawak has been conducting Information Literacy Skills Classes (ILSC) to ensure that all the library users are aware and well informed on how to navigate themselves in browsing through the electronic and physical resources provided. Information literacy refers to a set of skills that enable people to identify the right information; when it is needed, as well as to locate, evaluate, and use the right information at the right time. The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate how academic librarians felt about information literacy classes at the library in terms of their perception, practices, challenges, and strategies. This study was conducted among four academic libraries which consist of PTAR (UiTM Cawangan Sarawak), PeTARY (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak), Swinburne Sarawak Library and Curtin Malaysia Library, limited to librarians, working experience between 1-20 years, measured by a survey method involving 28 librarians, using questionnaire as the research instrument.
Chat platforms (WhatsApp) and e-mail have been used as an initiative platform in order to distribute the questionnaire efficiently and effectively. Data analyses collected through Google Sheets and the study found that majority of the librarians (71.4%) are most confident they can define what information literacy is to their users. Top three ILSC offered from the library showed that Online searching techniques (100%), Introduction to library resources, services, etc. (100%) and Introduction of library catalog/ OPAC (96.4%) is the most requested and popular ILSC. The challenges that librarians perceive while offering information literacy instruction among the four academic libraries is the lack of collaboration between faculty and librarians (46.4%). Therefore, the result shows that IL awareness programs for library users and ILSC as part of the curriculum with both outcomes of 57.1% were the most selected strategies which need to be adopted by librarians for effective implementation of information literacy instruction programs in the academic libraries.

The COVID-19 epidemic affected the student population of the PTAR library at Melaka's City Campus in several ways, one of which was a change in the frequency and volume with which students utilised the campus's information resources. This paper described the experiences of a University Library branch at UiTM during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID 19 pandemic disrupted physical teaching and learning on a global scale, encouraging the adoption of virtual education supported by digital information resources. This study's intent is to assess the utilisation of physical and digital learning materials, as well as customer satisfaction, in a PTAR library prior to and throughout the COVID-19 epidemic. Due to the limitations of working or studying from home, inadequate infrastructure, a lack of working space, and data subscriptions or Wi-Fi libraries, applications, printed materials, papers, and videos were the least used media. It was acknowledged that the global epidemic had both beneficial and negative consequences for academic libraries. It was advised that the pattern, concept, and styles of modern information resources and facilities be expanded, that the many open access resources, open data, open educational materials, open services, and open repository maintained by the library be capitalised on, and that the library immediately acquire electronic devices. The purpose of this research is to assess the pattern and breadth of use of information resource facilities and services at PTAR Melaka City Campus, as well as the use of the digital library platform at the UiTM Melaka City Campus library.

Higher education institutions are continuously changing, in both content and service delivery. Recent changes in libraries have been driven by a fast-paced online environment, changing user preferences, and provision of quality services by library competitors. Library services contribute to improved outcomes across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting universal literacy, including media and information literacy, and digital literacy skills. This change also greatly affects the provision of library leader agenda in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to capture and calculate the trends of academic publications related to library leaders and Sustainable Development Goals among researchers worldwide. The study uses bibliometric indicators to study the pattern of publication from two credible largest worldwide-used citation databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. At present, researchers developed a specific search string to run the data in both databases. The trend of the number of publications on a research field is often used to quantify research interest and effort, but this measure is biased by general publication record inflation. Hence, there is still a gap that needs to be addressed by researchers in Southeast Asia and other developing countries to study on library leaders' strategies especially in promoting SDG activities. The results of this study is significant in formulating ideas and strategies for library leaders to promote SDG activities at their respective organizations. This study also suggests exploration of a potential collaborations in terms of SDGs strategies and initiatives between library leaders and industrial players for future research.
