KUALA LUMPUR, July 29, 2026 – A delegation from the Tun Abdul Razak Library (PTAR) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), led by Deputy Chief Librarian Mr. Haji Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, successfully conducted a reference visit to the Za’ba Memorial Library at Universiti Malaya today.
- PTAR UiTM visited UM’s Za’ba Memorial Library to trace the historical archives of ITM/UiTM.
- The focus was on gathering old press clippings and Jawi materials detailing the university's legacy.
- Delegates also benchmarked archival management by exploring UM's Za'ba and Ungku Aziz Collections.
This strategic initiative aimed to thoroughly examine, collect, and record old newspapers and historical press clippings—particularly those written in the Jawi script. These archival materials are crucial as they intricately document the early history, progressive development, and enduring legacy of the MARA Institute of Technology (ITM) and UiTM.
The visit yielded several significant impacts and outcomes:
- Enriching Heritage: The findings will significantly strengthen PTAR's Jawi Special Collection and the UiTM Jawi Repository Portal, positioning it as a premier primary reference source for academic researchers.
- Professional Networking: The engagement streamlined and enhanced collaborative efforts between PTAR and the Universiti Malaya Library, particularly in the critical areas of special collections management and historical documentation.
- Prominent Figures' Collection Tour: The delegation also took the opportunity to visit the Za'ba Collection and the Ungku Aziz Collection. This served as an excellent benchmarking exercise to learn best practices in managing manuscripts and the personal documents of distinguished national figures.
PTAR UiTM extends its highest appreciation to the Universiti Malaya Library for their outstanding cooperation and shared commitment to preserving institutional history.
