UiTM 7-Decade Exhibition Captures History, Inspires the Future

Shah Alam, 28 January 2026 — In conjunction with the UiTM Vice-Chancellor’s Amanat 2026, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) presented the UiTM 7-Decade Exhibition yesterday, 28 January 2026. The high-impact showcase was organised by the University Archives Division of the UiTM Shah Alam Library Department and highlighted the institution’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 1956.

More than a display of nostalgia, the exhibition offered a dynamic visual narrative that chronicled UiTM’s evolution — from Dewan Latihan RIDA to Maktab MARA, then Institut Teknologi MARA, and ultimately its transformation into the nation’s largest public university. Through valuable archival documents, historic photographs, institutional artefacts, and a comprehensive timeline of achievements, visitors were guided through seven decades of perseverance, transformation, and academic excellence.

The University Archives Division played a strategic role as the custodian of institutional memory and the interpreter of historical meaning. Beyond merely preserving records, the archives translated heritage into understanding, organised evidence into coherent narratives, and ensured that the university’s legacy remains relevant for future generations. The exhibition underscored the archives’ essential function in shaping institutional identity while supporting UiTM’s 2030 aspirations founded on knowledge, ethics, and values.

Aligned with the Vice-Chancellor’s mandate, the UiTM 7-Decade Exhibition stood as a symbol that a credible future is rooted in a well-understood past. In this context, the UiTM Archives remain steadfast as the bridge connecting historical memory with the university’s forward-looking vision.
