Official Closing Ceremony of International Archives Day 2026 and the 7th Library Leadership Program at UiTM

SHAH ALAM, July 7, 2026 – The 7th Library Leadership Program and the official Closing Ceremony of International Archives Day 2026 took place this morning at the University Archives Division, UiTM Shah Alam.

The dual event successfully gathered the university community in a unified space dedicated to knowledge exchange, leadership inspiration, and honoring the institution's rich archival heritage.

In his welcoming address, UiTM Chief Librarian Ts. Haji Azizi bin Haji Jantan highlighted that the UiTM Library Leadership Series has successfully run for six consecutive series since 2025. Conducted through both physical and online modes, the initiative aims to strengthen career growth, leadership skills, and strategic thinking among UiTM librarians nationwide to drive global library excellence. Concurrently, he emphasized that International Archives Day—celebrated globally every June 9—recognizes archives as strategic assets that safeguard the memory, identity, and governance records of organizations and nations. This year's celebration saw 14 UiTM branch archives organizing a total of 86 activities.

A key highlight of the event was the Library Leadership Series 7 keynote address delivered by YBhg. Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Shahrin bin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, Vice-Chancellor of UiTM. Titled "High-Impact Leadership: Spearheading University Excellence Through Faith, Integrity, and Innovation – A Blueprint for the Future of Academic Leadership," the lecture delved deeply into high-impact leadership strategies required to reinforce university excellence, foster workplace integrity, drive innovation, and build a sustainable, globally competitive academic ecosystem.

Following his address, the Vice-Chancellor presented official awards to the winners of the International Archives Day 2026 competitions. The winners across the key categories are:

Best Archives Poster Award: Integrity Division (Champion), Faculty of Information Sciences (Runner-up), Academic Affairs Administration Unit of UiTM Perlis Branch (Third Place).

Highest Record Capture in DDMS 2.0 Award: Department of Research and Innovation (Champion), Department of Student Affairs (Runner-up), Department of Development (Third Place).

Records Management Audit Award: Administration and Human Resources Division of the Department of Development (Champion), Board of Directors Administration and Secretariat Division (Runner-up), Staff Recruitment and Placement Unit of the Registrar's Department (Third Place).

Highest Responsibility Centre (PTJ) for Vital Records Submission Award: Service Management Unit of the Registrar's Department (Champion), Department of Development (Runner-up), Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (Third Place).

UiTM extends its warmest congratulations to all the winners. It is envisioned that this recognition will act as a continuous catalyst to strengthen systematic record management, empower digital archiving, and preserve the institution's historic memory for future generations.
