KUALA LUMPUR, July 9, 2026 – The Special Focus Group (KFK) on Public University Archives Management Meeting No. 1/2026 was successfully held today at Universiti Malaya (UM) in Kuala Lumpur. Chaired by the Chief Librarian of UiTM, the high-level meeting was attended by Management and Professional Library Officers representing public universities from across Malaysia.
- The UiTM Chief Librarian chaired the Public University Archives Management Special Focus Group Meeting 1/2026 at Universiti Malaya.
- The gathering featured valuable knowledge-sharing sessions by UM and UTeM to exchange best practices in national records governance and institutional memory preservation.
- Ts. Haji Azizi bin Haji Jantan also held a courtesy meeting with UM's Library Executive Director and toured the Jawi Collection and UM Immersive 120.
The meeting served as a strategic platform to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration, align the strategic direction of public university archives management, and discuss new national-level initiatives aimed at empowering records governance and preserving institutional memory.
A major highlight of the event was the Knowledge Sharing Session hosted by the University Archives Division of Universiti Malaya, alongside a special presentation on the Zheng He Cultural Corner by Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). These insightful sessions showcased best practices, practical experiences, and innovative approaches in archival management. The exchange of ideas significantly broadened professional networks and reinforced a culture of excellence in university records administration.
In conjunction with the meeting, UiTM Chief Librarian Ts. Haji Azizi bin Haji Jantan paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Universiti Malaya Library, Madam Raja Sothi. During this engagement, he also had the opportunity to tour UM's Jawi Collection and the UM Immersive 120 facility.
Through synergies like this, Malaysian public universities continue to work hand-in-hand to build a sustainable and highly competitive archival ecosystem. This collective effort ensures institutions are well-prepared to face digitalization challenges while successfully preserving their intellectual heritage, history, and identity for future generations.
