The Library provides IT facilities to enable readers to consult our electronic resources, catalogues, and image collections, to make use of word-processing and spreadsheet software, and for general internet and e-mail access.
Most general facilities are concentrated in the IT Centre.
PCs
The Library's IT Centre provides a dedicated room in which users can use PCs. These PCs have access to all the Library's electronic resources, the internet and Microsoft office.
NOTE: PC workstations shut down 15 minutes before closing .
What’s available
PC workstations are available for use with the following software:
* Adobe Acrobat Reader 7
* Easy CD Creator
* Endnote 7.0
* Macromedia
* MS Internet Explorer 6.0
* MS Office Suite 2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, Publisher)
* SPSS 13.0 for Windows
Saving your work
All workstations have USB ports and floppy drives (1.4mb). In addition, you may save your work to your own External Drive
CD burners
Four PC workstations are also fitted with CD burners using Easy CD Creator.
Printing
In addition, you may save your work to your Printing. Printouts are charged per A4 black & white.
Scanning
Scanner is provided at no cost.
Training venue
A 40 PC training lab with data projector provides a formal training venue within the IT Centre. At non-peak times, the venue may be booked for appropriate classes of students as well as, academic and administrative staff courses.
Wireless Networking
Access the UiTM Shah Alam Wireless Network
As network grows and there are increasing demand for network mobility, INFOTECH with the cooperation of Facilities Management Department takes the initiative to accommodate UiTM users with wireless network infrastructure.
As of now, most of the academic and administrative buildings, as well as many other public areas in the campus are covered with wireless network.
INFOTEC and Facilities will continue proactively in giving better and continuous wireless service and wider coverage to our valued users in UiTM Shah Alam.
